THE DAWNLANDS

The Dawnlands.jpg

The Dawnlands are the eastern most kingdom and before it was conquered by the Blackfyres and made part of the Seven kingdoms it was called The Kingdom of the Rising Sun.

The Dawnlands are ruled by House Archer who have ruled for thousands of years, the current ruler is Lord Trystane Archer. The branch in King's Landing headed by Aeyron Archer is called House Royal Archer.

House Archer is a first men house who must’ve been great archers to merit their name. The founding member of House Archer is Marcon Archer he was one of the first first men to cross the land bridge between Cephri and Eilleas, when he arrived he was surprised to already find a man there called Garth Greenheart who had an ability to make anyone fertile and heal. A whole host of family tree’s link up to him if it is true, houses like Nik,Casterly,Westerly,Hightower,Sharp,Salt as well as others. Marcon was said to have married a green skinned woman with green long hair and wide hips who walked naked.

It was also said she had an ability to see through trees and raise crops and grass.

GEOGRAPHY

GEOGRAPHY

The Dawnlands are the hottest region of Cephri. The region is rocky, mountainous, arid and dry, and features the only desert on the continent. The Dawnlands is bordered by the Sun Straight to the south and the Linking Sea to the east. On the border with the Hunter's Gift lies the Dusk mountains.

The Dawnlands' rivers provide some fertile lands and even during a long summer there is enough rain and other supplies of water to keep the Dawnlands habitable. Inland water is almost as valuable as gold, and wells are jealously guarded. The River Box flows from the edge of the Lut desert. There is another river in the southern Dawnlands which flows near Starfall to the Sun Straight known as the River Sol and the River Este flows near Sundown.

PEOPLE&ECONOMY

PEOPLE&ECONOMY

The Dawnlands are more lenient than the other kingdoms in terms of sex and marriages. Polygamy is not an uncommon sight in the Dawnlands and the idea of having a "girlfriend" or a "boyfriend" is more common than anywhere else in Cephri this is why many of the lesser lords marry for love. As the institute is close to the Dawnlands many Dawnish go to study there. The Dawnlands is the most affected by Eilleas due to them being closer to Eilleas than the other kingdoms, they also have big trade links with Eilleas. Ivica is one of their biggest trade partners.

The Dawnlands provides many exotic products which are uncommon in the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. These products include olives, lemons, pomegranates, plumscloth, spices, and blood oranges. They are also famous for their spices and variants of curry dishes only found in the Dawnlands.

STORIES

STORIES

It is thought in the desert of the Dawnlands, there lies a majestic woman who is stranded in the sea of sand. In the book “Mysteries of Cephri” the writer Maxim Rodriguez, (who visited Cephri from Ivica) wrote this.

I travelled through the desert of the sun on the elephant which was not near as big as the ones in Eilleas. These ones were about 2 foot taller than myself but they were massively smaller than ours, it had been perhaps 6 days into the desert from when I left the river Este but what I saw today I shall never forget. A woman skin near enough the same colour as the sand, wearing a red and gold karakou sat on the desert floor dejectedly. She said “My husband left me here and took my child”, strangely enough she had not seen me when she said that, she spoke as if she knew what I was thinking. After I promised to take her to the nearest village and help her back up she climbed onto my elephant. Her veil was transparent but it was embroidered with colours so it only revealed her seductive eyes. She told me she was a noblewoman that she had men sworn to herself, She would reward me for my act. When I asked her name she replied as if she had said this a thousand times “I won’t be forgotten”. After a while she went silent, I thought nothing of it- as she may have fallen asleep but when I looked back. She was gone. No veil, no hair fallen, nothing. That entire day I could not stop thinking about her, was it a mirage of the desert I can not tell."

MILITARY STRENGTH

MILITARY STRENGTH

It is thought the Dawnish can raise up 50,000 to 55,000 men and horses although they have elephants none of them are war elephants fit for battle.

Their fleet has not be restored since it was destroyed in the 2nd Dawnish-Hunter war.

HISTORY

HISTORY

FIRST MEN

The First Men first came from Eilleas crossing the arm of Dawn until it was broken by the Dryads of the Forest.

RISING SUN

The Dawnlands were the independent kingdom of the Rising Sun. They were united under Archer rule who had married the mysterious green women for a few generations now. King Adhan Archer conquered the Dawnlands up to the Dust mountains, repelling the attacks of the Hunter's Gift with the help of the mountains, after the proclamation of the Kingdom of the Rising Sun King Adhan Archer married Lady Charlee Brook strengthening ties in his kingdom thus ending the act of the Archer's marrying these mysterious 'green women'.

During the existence of The Kingdom of the Rising Sun, they were involved in many wars with their neighbours. They had numerous border wars with the Proudlands, much of their rivalry can still be seen today examples are the castle of Dawn Death who are sworn enemies with Creton's Gift, a rivalry that has lasted for a long time.

In the first Dawnish-Hunter war King Regis sent his right hand man and trusted friend Lord Orthur Swyft to negotiate peace with the Hunter King, King Wern Nik when he received Orthur Swyft he immediately threw him in a cell below Hunter's Hill and later executed him.

BLACKFYRE CONQUEST

After the Field of Fire, King Aemon looked to conquer the Dawnlands so he began his conquest but he could not go past the Lut desert so instead he sent Naerys to fly over and burn several castle sites but when Naerys went the castles were empty and whenever there were soldiers they would disappear and attack, on and on never allowing Naerys a chance to destroy them. The Dawnish also had a weapon called the scorpion which would loose massive arrows that could pierce the dragon's own scales. Due to this innovative weapon, his army not being able to cross the desert and the guerrilla tactics enforced by the Dawnish, Aemon decided to offer Naerys in a marriage pact with King Cody Archer which he accepted giving up his crown. Quite a few Dawnish were outrage that "He gave up our sovereignty for a woman!", however some pointed to the Field of Fire relieved to have not gone through the same fate.

THE YOUTH REBELLION

The Dawnlands were perhaps the biggest player in the Youth Rebellion. Ulthor Young begged Ser Samuel Royce and Aeyron Archer to convince their family to call their banners and support him, both convinced them successfully and they both called the banners but Lord Trystane Archer made sure to get the rebellion to full strength so he asked Lord Harold Strong to join the rebellion aswell but as he was suspected to being a traitor he did not join with it. Lord Trystane convinced him by offering a marriage pact between his youngest son Aaden Strong and Trystane's youngest sister Larra Archer.

The rebellion's figure heads were Ulthor, Aeyron, Ser Samuel and Ignis Swyft- they all represented the division in generations, leading the rebellion hence it was named the Youth Rebellion.

Unlike some of the other kingdoms the Dawnlands were totally united bringing about 35,000 men, they took part the battles of: Dusk,Westwatch and Bask and also in the siege of Hunter's Hill.

After they took King's Landing and the great council was called Aeyron Archer was declared king.
