GEOGRAPHY

GEOGRAPHY

The Waterlands encompass a region of plains, forests, hills, and endless rivers, and borders with 4 Kingdoms, the joint most.

The riverlands are named for the number of rivers which are present. The River Run runs from its source in the middle hills to 3 River Stronghold where it combines with the Tumblestone and the Rhodes. The Eastwater flows north, south and east from its sources near Eastend, while the Bronze river runs east into the east coast boarding the Bronze Isles. The river Trident is the longest river in the Seven Kingdoms and the widest. 5 rivers flow into the river and 5 also flow out. The river Little, source near Newcastle, runs south-east joining the Trident at The Crossroads, The Trident-North Fork flows ,from north of the Crossroads, south towards the Crossroads while The Trident-East Fork flows out of the Trident, at the Crossroads, to the Iron Bay. The Trident-West Fork flows out of the Trident, at the Crossroads, south-east where it flows through the Hunter's Gift and the Proudlands where it flows into the River Reach. The Greenwater flows from the Crownlands north into the Hunter's Gift where it then flows into the River Trident at the Crossroads. The Trident itself flows west from it's source in the mountains near North's Node. At the Crossroads it flows the widest and the fastest.

The Waterroad begins at the Crossroads where you can take it south to merge with the Proudroad or you can take it at the Crossroads where it goes west towards NewCastle,EastEnd and just north of Last Heat where it merges with the Eastroad and the Kingsroad to become the single Kingsroad.

PEOPLE&ECONOMY

The Waterlands are rich and fertile and populous. The numerous rivers that run across their expanse are used for trading and the transport of goods. In times of peace fisherfolk in skiffs and grain barges pole downstream and merchants on floating ships sail on the rivers. With so much trade on the rivers, villagers will haul their grain and other goods to it to see it sold and carried elsewhere by the merchants. Wine can be made from small, tart grapes grown in the Waterlands.

Though House Strong is the Lord Paramount of the Waterlands they are not the richest. That would go to House Rivers, however the way they got rich is hated. As they were in middle of the Waterlands people who wanted to take the fastest route to 3 River Stronghold and other castles had to pass through the Crossroads Castle as the neighbouring hills were steep and dangerous to walk through. House Rivers installed a toll that people had to pay if they wanted to pass through the Crossroads Castle and quickly they got rich but were now despised by the other lords.

House Piper are the most recent major house being founded just 400 years ago building NewCastle but they are major lords in the Waterlands. The founding member of House Piper, Jason Piper, was friends with Lord Jaock of House Strong and from then since House Piper and House Strong have remind good allies.

MILITARY STRENGTH

While the riverlands are rich, fertile and populous, the region lacks natural borders and suffers from divided leadership. This affects the amount of men House Strong can provide. It is thought they can provide 40,000 to 50,000 men however, the number of soldiers who have been described in the field have been far less. When Aemon Blackfyre conquered the Waterlands first it is thought that his men total went up from 3,000 to 15,000 signalling only a 12,000 increase. During the Dance of Dragons the Lords of the Trident raised an army on two occasions: one of 20,000 and one of 10,000 It is unknown whether the same men made up part of the armies in battle on both occasions, or just one.

House Rivers can provide a force of 6,000 including knights and cavalry.

HISTORY

DAWN AGE

HISTORY

During the thousands of years, various families ruled the Waterlands as Water kings, claiming the titles King of the Trident or King of the Rivers and the Hills. Many dynasties claimed these lands during the Age of Heroes, including the Hopes,Rems,Swegurs,Whents and Lockes.

NISHANS

When the Nishans came they defeated the separate kings one by one with their superior bronze weapons however there was one king they found trouble in defeating his name was King Tristifir Hope VI, he brought his army together and repelled the attacks of the Nishans. It was said he fought 50 battles against the Nishans and beat them 49 times but fell in the final 50th battle. All his previous wins were just Pyrrhic victories for him as once he was defeated his kingdom fell and the House Hope was destroyed.

After their victory the Nishans would have separate kings however they were united as "The Kingdom of the Rivers and Waters" under the rule of House Jusen. The Waterlands expanded to the areas north of today's Hunter's Gift however when they tried to invade the Bronze Isles after taking the Sapphire Isles, House Jusen were defeated and sacrificed to the Drowned God by the King of the Bronze Isles King Rored. Due to this act the Waterlands descended into chaos with different factions fighting for control.

BRONZE RULE

50-200 years after the fall of House Jusen the Bronzemen launched an invasion of the Waterlands which had been pressured by the Kings of Winter, pirates and it's own rebellious subjects. However it is disputed if it was 50 years after the fall of House June as several houses existed during the invasion which had not existed during the reign of House Justman. The agreed timeframe is about 50-200 years after the fall of House Jusen.

The Bronzemen alongside the Pirates ravaged the East coast and they had taken large portions of the coast however Bronze Beast which had just recently been constructed held out against the Bronzemen. In the end they defeated the Waterlords and ruled the Bronze Isles and the Waterlands. The pirates were rewarded heavily one instance was of a pirate settling down in the Bronze Isles and starting his own House: House Myre. All the while a house from the Hunter's Gift was exiled and kicked out of the Hunter's Gift and now made their way to the Waterlands

HOUSE STRONG

House Strong had been expelled from the Hunter's Gift by the Nishans. During the invasion of the Nishan's the Hunter's Gift held out the longest of the conquered nations but was eventually conquered. The last house House Strong was kicked out by House Nik and they moved to the Waterlands which was now under control of the Bronze Isles. The rule of House Greyjoy in the Waterlands was not liked and House Strong, with the other Waterlords, kicked the Bronzemen out thanks to the help of the Northmen. House Greyjoy was extinct and the Northmen took a piece of land just south of their mountains. Taking the Castle Drowned Lair with it and remaining it to Last Stand.

BLACKFYRE CONQUEST

During the Blackfyre Conquest the Waterlands were the first to fall. When the king landed at King's Landing he decided to move north and attack the Waterlands before attacking the powerful Hunter's Gift. Making his way up north Lord Killian Royce of House Royce of the Hunter's Gift bent the knee to King Aemon and went north to fight with him taking the king's manpower to 7,000. When the king won the first battle against 10,000 he took the areas of the Waterlands above GoldGift and just below the Trident and gave it to House Royce as a gift for their help. From then forth the castle GoldCastle would be called GoldGift. The land King Aemon gave to the Royce's still remains as part of the Hunter's Gift.

After the first loss House Strong took their whole host of 30,000 and marched south to fight the Dragon king and his sisters. However they faced against just 2 dragons, Aemon's dragon-Baeron the Black Death and Daenerys' dragon Perex the longtail while Naerys went to the Bronze Isles with her dragon Soarmia to discuss their surrender. Still with the 2 dragons King Aemon destroyed the Water host even with the disadvantage of having nearly 3x as less men.

After the battle of the Crossroads House Strong surrendered and gave up their crown. The remaining men not burnt or killed fought under King Aemon.

The Kingdom of Rivers and Waters was now the Waterlands a subject of the 3 Blade Throne. During the Dance of Dragons the Waterlands supported Garlayx Blackfyre and most their fighting took place in the Waterlands against the North who supported Jaeson Blackfyre.

THE YOUTH REBELLION

Harold Strong was in secret talks with the Proudlands on how to get rid of the Crazed King and install Tywon as regent however when Lord Devlin Young and his son were executed by the king, Harold fearing he might be caught decided to stay away. When the rebellion originally began they did not join the rebellion only when Lord Trystane Archer promised a marriage pact between their two kingdoms with Aaden Strong and Larra Archer he accepted and joined the war.

During the Great Council Lord Harold Strong voted for Aeyron Archer to become king, after betrothing Aaden to Larra and having a political relationship with Trystane Archer he looked to further the Archer's position because if Aeyron became king Larra would be royalty and when Larra married Aaden, the Strong's would also become royalty.
